Inside Sui's Meme Launchpads: How Blast.fun Works

Blast.fun has become one of the main places Sui memecoins launch. Here is how its bonding curves and Bluefin graduation work, and what to check before you buy.

Most new memecoins on Sui now start on a launchpad, not with a team seeding its own liquidity pool. Blast.fun is one of the most visible. Its model borrows from pump.fun on Solana, adapted to Sui's Move contracts and its DEX landscape.

How a launch works

Blast.fun runs on Memez.fun contracts from Interest Protocol. According to Interest Protocol's docs, the contracts support three launch styles:

  • Pump: the familiar bonding curve, where the price starts at a floor and rises as people buy.
  • Auction: a Dutch-auction style start where the price begins high and falls until traders find a level.
  • Stable: a fixed price until a target amount of SUI is raised. Buyers can exit before the target is reached.

Once a pool collects its target amount of SUI, it migrates. Trading pauses briefly, and liquidity moves to a DEX chosen by the deployer. On Blast.fun, graduated tokens trade on Bluefin. The contracts do not require a 1 billion supply, and coins are burnable.

The live app also includes farms, a portfolio view, a rewards page and creator tools such as SuiNS support and CSV token distribution.

A naming trap

Be careful with tickers. A token called BLAST trading on Bluefin is described on GeckoTerminal as an abandoned Blast.fun v2 test token that the community has since taken over. It is not an official platform token. Blast.fun has not announced a token, as far as SuiWire can verify.

Before you ape

Launchpads lower the barrier to launch, which also lowers the barrier to scams. Public creator identities help, but they are not a guarantee. Before buying, check:

  • Holder concentration and the developer's share in an explorer such as Suivision or Suiscan.
  • The creator's public track record.
  • Whether team allocations are disclosed and locked onchain.
  • Liquidity depth after graduation on Bluefin.
