Perceptron Moves Its Enterprise Data Suite to Walrus for Verifiable Provenance

The data network, which says it runs on more than 800,000 user-run nodes, is replacing centralized storage with Walrus so buyers can verify every dataset.

Perceptron, a distributed data network that says it runs on more than 800,000 user-run nodes, is integrating Walrus as the storage layer for its enterprise data suite. Walrus Foundation announced the integration on October 22.

What changes

Perceptron collects publicly available, real-time data through contributors who share idle bandwidth from mobile and web nodes, then packages it into data products for enterprise, finance and AI customers. Until now it has relied on centralized storage providers.

With Walrus, each dataset gets a verifiable identifier and an immutable history. Walrus Foundation says this lets hedge funds, quantitative researchers and enterprise buyers check for themselves that data has not been altered since it was collected. The foundation also points to cost: on centralized cloud storage, Perceptron faced rising costs as its data grew, plus egress fees for moving data out.

Walrus Foundation names Aethir, Kaiko AI, Hub.xyz and Everlyn AI among Perceptron's clients.

"A decentralized acquisition layer needs a decentralized storage layer – anything else is a structural mismatch," said Peter Anthony, Perceptron's co-founder and CEO. "Walrus gives us verifiable data provenance, which is exactly what enterprise buyers need when they're making decisions based on our signal."

What comes next

Walrus will also support Perceptron's upcoming Data Questing Platform, which will let contributors take on active tasks such as annotating images, labeling datasets and submitting structured data. Perceptron also plans a marketplace for permissioned, verifiable real-time data products. No launch dates were given for either.

"The next frontier of AI will be won on data, and as agentic systems demand proof over trust, the verifiability Walrus brings becomes essential," said Kimberly Logan, head of product at Walrus Foundation.

Why it matters

Walrus is the decentralized storage network built by the team behind Sui and coordinated on the Sui blockchain. Perceptron joins a growing list of AI and data companies picking Walrus for verifiable storage. It follows the October 12 announcement that DATA Network is moving to Sui, with Walrus as the default storage layer for DATA Foundation applications.
