TradePort, the leading NFT marketplace on Sui by volume, is courting AI assistants. TradePort said on October 12 that connecting its MCP integration takes only a URL and an API key.

What it does

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants call outside tools. With TradePort's MCP connected, a user can ask an assistant questions in plain English. Example requests TradePort gave include:

  • "What is the floor price of Sui Punks?"
  • "Show me the top 10 SUI NFT collections by volume"
  • "Show all my active listings"
  • "Buy the cheapest Rootlets"

The last one matters most. It suggests the tool is meant to place trades, not only read data. TradePort already offers a GraphQL data API and a Sui trading SDK that supports buying, listing, bidding and transfers. The MCP appears to put those capabilities behind a conversational interface. SuiWire could not find standalone MCP documentation on TradePort's docs site at the time of writing, so details such as wallet permissions and spending limits are unverified.

Why it matters

The NFT market on Sui is small next to DeFi, but it is active. Suiscan counts more than 122 million NFTs on the network, with tens of thousands minted each day. TradePort leads marketplace volume over the last 24 hours, ahead of Clutchy and BlueMove.

AI-driven trading fits the direction Sui is pushing. At Basecamp, the network's biggest announcements were about agents: Agent Payments with Alibaba Cloud, the Google Cloud Verifiable Agent Arbiter, and tunnels built for machine-scale activity. An NFT marketplace that agents can query and trade on is a small but practical step in that direction.

A word of caution

Giving an AI assistant a buy button means giving it access to a wallet. Until TradePort publishes clear documentation on how signing and limits work, collectors should start with read-only questions, and only connect a wallet holding funds they can afford to lose.
