Walrus is a verifiable data platform created by Mysten Labs. The official site describes it as a data platform built for the demands of AI, where data is portable, protected and verifiable. The site is walrus.xyz, the docs are at docs.wal.app, and the official account on X is @WalrusProtocol.

Walrus stores data as blobs. Its documentation says Walrus depends on Sui to track those blobs, their owners and their lifetimes, and that Walrus binds blobs to objects on the Sui blockchain. The project repository describes Walrus as a decentralized blob store using Sui for coordination and governance.

The site's FAQ says each stored blob gets a unique ID, derived from its content, that is recorded on Sui. Storage nodes also post a proof on Sui that they are holding the data.

Walrus uses Sui to coordinate and verify that stored data. It is not a decentralized exchange that settles trades on Sui.
